Unforgettable love

Chapter 48

Chapter 48:.

Matthew brought his face close to Dolores’. “If you dare to disrespect me like that in the future, I…” He looked at her lips, leaned down and bit them.

She felt a sudden pain. The taste of blood spread through her mouth. She grimaced. It hurt, it burned. Matthew really bit her.noveldrama

“In the future, every time you’re wrong about me, I’ll do this as my way of punishing you, does that seem fair?”

Dolores felt disoriented as she looked at the man in front of her. She couldn’t understand the reasoning behind the behaviors.

“Do you understand what you did right now?”

At a loss for words, Matthew didn’t know how to answer her question. Every moment that passed after meeting Dolores was so unexpected that he lost control of himself and became a different man from who he was in the past.

He realized that Dolores was not virtuous, as she was impure and did not respect herself.

However, the fact that he was interested in such an immoral woman, and felt like a real man – a man who had the normal physical reaction a man should have when confronted with a woman – was confusing. He hid his emotions well as he stared at Dolores.

She smiled faintly and asked, “And you? You rushed to protect me from the knife without concern for your own life-does that mean…?”

As Matthew spoke, his face moved even closer to hers. When Dolores took a step back, he himself took a step and followed her. They were very close to each other. The smile on his face was slight, soft, gentle, and could hardly be ignored.

“Have you fallen in love with me?”

Was that why she was rushing in without concern for her and her son’s safety when Matthew was in danger?

Matthew remembered how shocked he was when he turned around and saw her pounce on her.

Dolores pulled away and refused to look at him. “Mr. Nelson, you have a great sense of humor. I’ve only known you for a few days-how could I have fallen in love with you so quickly?”

If she didn’t suspect he was the father of her child, she certainly wouldn’t have put herself in such a dangerous situation. She cherished her own life, as she had to survive for the sake of her mother and child.

Matthew did not get angry. Instead, he turned around and leaned back on the couch, smiling. “Maybe, you fell in love with me when we first met? Love at first sight. It happens, doesn’t it?”

He was apparently addressing Dolores, but it seemed he was asking a rhetorical question.

Dolores’ hand that had been resting on his leg clenched tightly, but she responded with a calm demeanor. “I don’t believe in love at first sight.”

Not wanting to continue the conversation, he got up to get water for her, deliberately ignoring the subject. They were strangers, but lived under the same roof as a matter of fate. Now they were talking about the most indescribable word in the world, ‘love’. She couldn’t help but chuckle quietly to herself.

As she drank her water, Dolores looked through the glass and gazed at the piano placed in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. Depression clouded the happiness she had felt.

The next day, Dolores went to the hospital to see Jessica. This time, Jessica was sober and recognized Dolores at first sight. She grabbed Dolores’ hands, not letting go.

“Lola, I’m so glad you came to see me. I’ve missed you so much during my stay here.” Jessica held Dolores’ hands tightly, as if she feared Dolores would disappear as soon as she was out of her grasp.

Seeing Jessica more awake, Dolores felt elated. “I won’t leave. When you’re strong enough, we’ll leave this place together.”

Once the arrangement with Matthew was finalized, Dolores would buy a small house to live in with her mother and son.

“How come Doctor Herbert hasn’t visited me in the last few days, are you mad at him?” asked Jessica, more or less knowing Sampson’s thoughts.

Jessica liked Sampson a lot and really liked his personality.

Besides, he was also a doctor. If Dolores could leave Matthew and marry

Sampson, most of her problems would be solved. The problem was that Dolores was pregnant with a child whose father was unknown. Every time Jessica thought of the child, she fell into a deep depression.

“He’s been called away on business and won’t be back for a while,” Dolores said looking sad.

Sampson promised her that he would help her find out what had happened that faithful night. So now she should be in Country A.

“If you weren’t pregnant, wouldn’t it be wonderful to be with him? He’s a doctor, so you know he’s nice…”

“Mom,” Dolores hastily interrupted Jessica and helped her fasten a bracelet on her wrist, “Mom, do you recognize this?”

Jessica looked down and gasped, “Sure! It’s been years though…” Jessica looked at Dolores in shock, thinking she would never see the bracelet again after Randolph fired them. “How did you get it?”

“Randolph gave it to me…” Dolores interrupted, unsure how to broach the subject of the main reason for her visit, besides spending time with her mother. “Randolph is in a financial situation and he came to me yesterday to ask for help. I don’t know what I should do.”

Dolores hated Randolph so much that she hoped he would die. On the other hand, he was still her father, even if he was a bastard. He had helped give her life.

Jessica looked at the bracelet. “I don’t want you to worry about this, Lola. Don’t worry about the past. Don’t get involved with people from the past. Don’t focus on revenge, but don’t forgive them either.”

Dolores understood what her mother meant. No matter what Randolph was like now, regardless of good or bad, she was not to get involved with him. “All right.”

The two talked for a while longer, and only when visiting hours were over did Dolores leave the room.

After leaving the room, Dolores went to the infirmary to inquire about her mother’s condition.

“She’s so aware of everything around her now; doesn’t that mean she’s recovered?”.

“No, she randomly forgets some matters and although she remembers things in the short term, but not everything in the long term. We have to keep her under observation for a while yet to see if we can figure out what might be wrong.”

Dolores did her best to hide her disappointment, as she thought Jessica was recovering quickly. “Please take care of her for me then.”

“We will. Doctor Herbert specifically told us about this, so please don’t worry.” Dolores thanked the nurse and left the hospital.

Since Jessica had recommended that she not do anything to Randolph, Dolores decided to let go of the old grudge against her father as well. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, Dolores hailed a cab back to her office.

In the cab, Dolores gazed out the window, taking in the city that was so familiar and yet so unfamiliar to her. She was lost in her thoughts until the car drove past the Flores Group building and many people gathered in front of the entrance, holding banners with large letters that read “Give me back the money it cost me to earn.”

“Stop here, please,” Dolores requested as she rolled down the car window and stared at the protesting workers.

The driver looked at Dolores in the rearview mirror and spoke. “You’ve heard about all this, haven’t you? This unscrupulous businessman uses low-quality materials, so the buildings he is constructing are collapsing before they are finished. Those who already paid the company were terribly lucky, who would dare to live in such a house? However, even if they don’t want it, the company won’t give them their money back. People gather here every day to express their anger, but nothing has come out yet. Miss, have you also bought a house from this company?”.

Dolores shook her head. “No. Luckily, I haven’t.”

“That’s good. Most people can’t afford to buy a house, so a lot of people here have used all their savings to hire this company and their builders. Now that all these problems are coming to light, customers are understandably frustrated. In short, the developer is too deceitful and a lot of people have been duped by them.”

The more the driver spoke, the angrier he became. It seemed that he too had been a victim of the scam.

“Do you want to get off here?” asked the driver, who didn’t want to waste any more time sitting there when he could be getting more customers.

“No, let’s go,” said Dolores, turning away, not wanting to see any more of the demonstration.

It was none of her business.

As soon as the car pulled up in front of the WY Tower, Dolores paid and got out of the car. She was about to enter the building when a man in a black suit came running up.

“Excuse me, are you Miss Flores?”.

Dolores turned her head and assessed the man. He was completely unfamiliar to her. She tried to remember him from her childhood, or perhaps from the news, but she was sure she had never seen him.

Having been victimized the last time, she was very alert and cautious.

Instead of admitting who he was, she asked him a question. “Who are you? I don’t know you.”

The man was perfectly calm and responded with a smile and a small bow. “I am the chauffeur of the woman I serve. She wants to talk to you.”

“Who is the woman you serve?”

Dolores frowned. She looked around and saw a luxurious black car parked at the side of the road.

The person inside the car must have noticed Dolores looking in their direction as he slowly rolled down the window.

The driver looked into the car and his smile widened as he spoke. “This is Mrs. Herbert.”
