Unforgettable love

Chapter 44

Chapter 44:.

Huh?

Dolores turned around.

Matthew didn’t explain further, as he rubbed his hands together slowly, placing the napkin on the table. Rising, he turned to Dolores, “Let’s go to the company together.”

Dolores’s mouth widened, together?

Did she hear wrong?

“Together… Is this appropriate?” After all, no one knew about their relationship; if they were seen together, rumors would fly.

“What do you mean by suitable or not? They are married after all; who’s going to say a word about it?” said Coral. She thought Matthew going to the company with Dolores was a good thing; had he accepted Dolores?noveldrama

They were married anyway; their relationship should be closer now.

Dolores had something to say, but Coral said, “Go change your shoes now.”

Dolores was forced to go with Matthew.

Coral was like a lookout, only entering the house after seeing Dolores in Matthew’s car.

Dolores laughed heartily, “Coral is very passionate, ha.”

Instead of answering, Matthew asked, “How paranoid are you about others knowing about our relationship?”

Dolores felt strange; what was there to be afraid of?

There was not a single downside to making their relationship known, only benefits to her.

“Our brief marriage is just a deal. If your co-workers find out, it’s going to bring you a lot of trouble.” She lowered her eyes, said weakly.

With a plan, her heart was empty with panic. She didn’t know how much truth there was to her assumption.

If it was false, she could write it off as an accident.

And if it was real…

This man…

Would he accept the child?

“Are you looking out for me?”

The corners of his lips turned up slightly as if this was the answer that would leave him satisfied.

He had a lot of thoughts inside his head as he clasped his hands together, tentatively asking, “I guess. After you get divorced, you are going to marry Miss White immediately, aren’t you?”.

When he reached Helen, Matthew’s face sank. He turned his head slightly, looking at her sharply, “You’re testing me?”

Indeed, Dolores wanted to test whether he would marry Helen White; she wanted to know how far Matthew had invested his feelings in Helen White.

Dolores acted firmly: “I’m just curious about your love affair with Miss White. Testing? Is it necessary? It would gain nothing anyway.”

Although Dolores had an adequate explanation, Matthew wasn’t buying it.

He felt that her words had some meaning behind them.

Whatever it was, he didn’t know.

His instinct told him that she had some intention behind it.

They had both arrived at the company. Normally, Matthew parked his car underground, but this time, he pulled up to the top of the parking lot.

Dolores got out of the car and stood to the side, waiting for Matthew to go first, then proceeded.

Matthew looked at her, and Dolores sketched a smile, “I’m not going to give you any trouble.”

“How are you going to know if I see it as a problem?” he asked calmly, rolling his eyes, “Unless you read my mind.”

Dolores, “…”

She took a step back as she saw a car coming, distancing herself completely from him.

Matthew looked at her faintly, then stepped inside the building.

The quiet of the morning had dispelled the tense work atmosphere. The whole building seemed even slightly relaxed.

The person inside the car was also a coworker of the WY Group. He was from the IT department. He saw Dolores standing there and approached, “Do you also work at WY Group?”.

Dolores politely replied, “Yes, I do.”

“Come on.” The man wore a pair of glasses, slightly thin, with slightly bleached skin. He looked like a gentleman.

Dolores nodded.

“What department are you from?” the man asked.

“I’m from the translation department.” Dolores replied quietly.

“Oh.” The man paused for a second, “You’re new here, aren’t you? I’ve never seen you before.”

“Yes, I just arrived a few days ago.” As he spoke, he looked up and saw Matthew out front, he was already in front of the lobby, entering the front desk of the building….

Suddenly, a black shadow shot out, heading straight for Matthew….

“DIE!” It was a woman, holding a sharp knife; she looked ready.

The sharp, gleaming blade reflected the light as it cut in a curve, aiming for Matthew’s backside.

“Careful…”

At that moment, Dolores rushed forward.

She was unable to think clearly; it wasn’t about being brave or not being afraid to die. She simply believed that Matthew could be the father of the unborn child; her sanity was out of control.

Or maybe it was that she had unique feelings for the first man in her life.

In short, she lost her mind trying to block out the dangers directed at Matthew.

Matthew heard some noises, turned around and saw Dolores running toward him, and Beulah Shawn, who was holding a knife…. Bang!

Dolores fell into his arms, as did Beulah’s knife in her hand…. Dolores had come to her senses; would she die like this?

She hadn’t had time to confirm if he was the man from that night, if he was the father of the unborn child.

Thoughts popped into her head, things that happened in the past, her mother, her brother, happy or unhappy incidents, and now the unborn child in her stomach.

She didn’t want to die, she refused, she didn’t want to.

Her brain had an idea, as her body twitched. He tried to push her with both hands.

However, something held her waist; her body slammed against a hard, solid chest, she couldn’t move.

He regretted it.

But there was no chance for regret.

She accepted her fate and closed her eyes.

Hoping the pain wouldn’t come too quickly, living one more second was one more second.

The shrieks echoed in his ears. One second, two seconds, three seconds… the pain didn’t come.

She opened her eyes slowly and saw Matthew looking at her. She couldn’t guess the emotion on his face, as if it changed like the clouds, from awe and surprise to fear and happiness.

He hadn’t expected that when danger appeared, she would come to block it out. Her pupils seemed to smile, “Do you know what you’re doing?”.

At this moment, all Dolores could think about was why she couldn’t feel pain in her body.

She turned around and saw Matthew holding the knife that was inches from her body. Blood dripped through his fingers.

Beulah looked at Matthew with bloodshot eyes; she was angry how could she not stab him to death?

“I’ll kill them all!” It looked like Beulah was enraged about something as she pulled out her knife, preparing to strike once more.

It was as if she wouldn’t stop unless they were dead!

Matthew frowned slightly.

“They made me lose everything; I’m going to kill them all!” Beulah seemed beyond sanity, lunging towards him recklessly.

Matthew grabbed Dolores’ waist, turned around and pulled the knife away from Beulah. He then stretched out his legs and kicked her to the ground.

The building’s security guards heard the roar and came to restrain Beulah. She, struggling and losing all her image as a noble person, shouted, “Get your hands off me or I’ll sue you all for sexual harassment!”

At that hour, people were arriving one after another to work. It took no effort at all for them to surround the entrance area.

Everyone was discussing this incident as if they were surprised by this commotion.

Everyone was sharpening their ears, trying to understand what was going on…..
