Lenora and Zachary Chapter 528
Chapter 528 So Close
Bertram was taken aback, then tried to push her away. "Tamara! Have some self-respect. We're not young anymore, let's not embarrass ourselves."
Tamara clung tightly to Bertram. "No! Do you know what I've been through all these years? I've been living each day in a daze, just like a zombie. I've had enough of this life. It's only now that I've realized that life is too short, why should we make it hard for ourselves because of others? Bertram, I love you, and I want to be with you. Even if the whole world condemns me, I'll not regret it. You understand my feelings, don't you?"
She lifted her head, staring intently into his eyes. Her gaze was burning with fervor and madness.
Just like she was in her youth, her heart brimming with her love for him. He was all that mattered to her.
For a moment, Bertram was taken aback, his fists clenched tightly as he struggled with his emotions.
Seeing his dazed expression, Tamara got on her tiptoes, her hands wrapping around his neck, and leaned toward his lips.
Snapping back to reality, Bertram immediately leaned back to avoid her. "Tamara, you're drunk. I should probably take you home."
After he finished speaking, he didn't wait for Tamara's response. He took her by the hand and led her toward the staircase.
If they stayed any longer, trouble was bound to happen.
"Bertram, look at me! Why can't you face me? What are you afraid of?" Tamara demanded as she was being led away.
Instead of answering, Bertram asked, "Which hotel are you staying at?"
"Don't change the subject!" Tamara quickly blocked Bertram's way. "Bertram, I know I still have a place in your heart. Can you please face your feelings? Don't spend the rest of your life in regret." "Stop messing around, where do you live?"
"Right next to your room."
Rendered speechless, Bertram stopped in his tracks.
Tamara chuckled. "What's the matter? Afraid your wife will find out?"
Bertram remained silent, continuing to lead her forward.
"I'm feeling dizzy. Please support me."
It seemed as though Tamara had gotten tipsy, leaning her entire body against him.
Bertram thought she would resist again, but to his surprise, she quietly let him guide her down from the rooftop.
Along the corridor, Tamara had become significantly quieter.
If there was any commotion, Jasmine would find out, and that would be bad news.
This was despite her eagerness to witness the pained expression on Jasmine's face when she discovered them. She knew it would be a satisfying sight.
Upon reaching the entrance of the room, Bertram turned to Tamara. "Where's your room key?"
Even though the hotel room was soundproofed and Jasmine, asleep in the suite, couldn't hear any conversation from the doorway. Bertram still instinctively lowered his voice. "In my jacket pocket..."
Bertram swiped the room card, gently leading Tamara inside before letting her down on the couch. "You should rest up. I'm going back now."
Upon hearing this, Tamara embraced him from behind, her cheek resting against his back. "Bertram, don't leave. Stay with me a little longer..." she pleaded. "Tamara..."
"Just for tonight. Let's consider it a closure to our past. From tomorrow onward, I promise not to bother you again. Bertram, can't you even grant me this small wish?" Bertram remained silent, only letting out a sigh after a long while. "You can let go of me now."
"Thank you, Bertram."
Realizing he had given in, Tamara broke into a smirk. She folded her arms back and took a step backward.
Unexpectedly, she tripped over something, and with a startled cry, she toppled backward.
Immediately, Bertram grabbed her, and they both tumbled onto the couch together.
Their eyes met; one of them on top of the other.
Bertram was taken aback, as the room was instantly filled with an amorous atmosphere.
Tamara's eyes brimmed with affection as she wrapped her arms around his waist and closed her eyes.
Almost as if he was bewitched, Bertram found himself fixated on her lips, slowly leaning in.
It felt warm and soft.
Bertram had experienced such situations countless times, but at that moment, he felt like an innocent young boy, his heart pounding with excitement.
Just as he was about to close his eyes, ready to fully immerse himself in the moment, the sudden ring of his cell phone shattered the intimate atmosphere.
Snapping back to reality, Bertram sprang up from the couch, distancing himself from Tamara. He pulled out his phone from his pocket and glanced at it, his body stiffening in response.
Tamara opened her eyes, sitting up from the couch. She noticed something odd about Bertram and asked, "Who is it?"
Bertram deliberately averted his gaze, refusing to look at her. He took a deep breath, paused for a moment, then answered, "Hello? Jasmine?"
Tamara was dumbfounded.
"Mmm, I've already arrived at the office... Don't worry, it's nothing serious... I'll be back soon... Okay..."
A few simple exchanges were all it took for Tamara to deduce that Bertram had come to see her under the pretense of work.noveldrama
Bertram hung up the phone, then turned to Tamara with a cold expression. "Tamara, I'm heading back now."
"Bertram..."
This time, without waiting for Tamara to catch up, Bertram swiftly open the door and dashed out, as if he was being chased by a rabid dog.
Watching the door close, Tamara
grimaced in anger. Her fists were
clenched so tightly that her nails dug
into the flesh of her palms, her anger
almost causing her to burst a vessel.
I was so close! A little bit more and I would have succeeded! Jasmine, I won't let you off for this!
After spending more than half an hour on the rooftop braving the chilly wind, Bertram finally returned to his suite.
Jasmine rolled over, her eyes still heavy. "You're back? Is everything sorted out?" she asked.
"Yeah," Bertram responded, his eyes lowered as he undressed with an expressionless face.
Once he had laid down on the bed, Jasmine twitched her nose slightly, catching a faint whiff of alcohol. Gradually, she tightened her grip on the bedsheet.
She casually leaned into Bertram's
embrace. "I noticed that Jermaine seems to get along well with Nora was thinking, maybe we can get Jermaine to mediate. We could invite Nora out for a meal to ease tensions."
Bertram nodded. "Alright."
Jermaine had never even considered that Lenora might actually be Jasmine's daughter with her ex-husband.
However, there was still a misunderstanding, which wasn't entirely clarified during dinner earlier.
Jasmine's intention was to reconcile with her daughter.
Considering that the Campbell family's new venture in Jeahron still required the support of the Hoffman family, he agreed to it.
After Zachary had left, Lenora continued to busy herself at the photography studio. It was then that she received an invitation from Jermaine.
In the evening, Lenora arrived at the restaurant. She had expected to see Jermaine and Bella, but instead, her gaze fell upon Jasmine and Bertram sitting opposite him.
Lenora realized something, quickly turned around, and left. She planned to send Jermaine a message, telling him that she couldn't make it due to overtime once she got outside. However, at that very moment, Jermaine spotted her and waved, calling out, "Lenora, over here."
Lenora was dumbfounded.
She had no choice but to walk over, pretending not to have seen Jasmine. "Jermaine, you wanted to see me?"
Before Jermaine could utter a word, Jasmine interjected, "Nora, I asked Jermaine to invite you here. He already knows about our relationship."
Lenora pursed her lips as she looked at Jermaine.
What a busybody.
Jermaine chuckled. "Lenora, Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman just want to have a meal with you. Don't worry."
Lenora didn't believe it.
Every time Jasmine approached her, there was always an ulterior motive.
She certainly hasn't revealed the whole truth to Jermaine.
"Whatever it is, just spit it out." Lenora turned to Jasmine.
"Nora, I know I've made many mistakes in the past. I'm not asking for your forgiveness. All I want is to have a meal with you and talk to you properly."
"Is the meal spiked again this time?" Lenora raised an eyebrow.
"Nora, I messed up the last time, and
Mr. Hoffman has already scolded me for it. This time around,
Jermaine is here, so you don't need to worry. If you're still not at ease, you can ask Jermaine to invite his girlfriend over."
Bertram looked at Lenora, nodding slightly.
From Lenora's words, Jermaine could somewhat discern what Jasmine had done in. He said, "Lenora, if you really don't want to be here, you can go back first. It's fine."
Mr. Hoffman wouldn't fuss over such a trivial matter when it come to my family's project.
Upon hearing Jermaine's words, Lenora actually felt somewhat embarrassed.
She then took a seat next to him.
Initially, she assumed that Jasmine had some tricks up her sleeve, but unexpectedly, the meal was all there was to it.
After they had finished, Jermaine escorted Lenora back to the hotel.
Throughout the journey, Lenora was deep in thought. What is Jasmine up to?
What do you think?
